Artists in Eden March
Artists Christmas

About Artists in Eden

This traditional gala event of the Eden Arts calendar is held in March each year and brings together a large number of recognised Auckland artists who draw and paint “live” in Mt Eden Village. The completed works are auctioned the same day to provide funds for community arts initiatives. Around 40 visual artists take part every year, alongside children’s art activities, live music, and the opportunity to win an artwork by a local artist in the raffle. It’s a great day for the whole family, culminating in the excitement of a live auction at 2.30pm where there is a chance to purchase the works created.

Artists in Eden is Auckland’s longest running art event of its kind and a fabulous opportunity to enjoy some of the art talent which is such an integral part of the Mt Eden community. Entry is free and the public is encouraged to chat to the artists as they work. Regularly participating artists include longstanding favourites such as George Baloghy, Peter Gibson Smith, John Horner, Neal Palmer, Peata Larkin, Claudia Pond Eyley, Belinda Griffiths and Rebecca Tune, as well as more recent additions such as Krystie Wade, Brendon Leung and Brittany Walker Smith. Artists in Eden Day is the flagship event of the Eden Arts Trust - it helps to fund our annual award programmes and we thank those who join us for helping us to continue our support of the arts and artists in our community!

Our Artists in Eden Christmas Special is a recently-launched bonus event for buyers and artists. Artists are invited to offer small works for sale as a nod to the festive season, with most works measuring 200mm x 200mm and offered at a flat rate of $200 each. This is another chance for the community to watch artists at work, listen to live music and also to purchase that special gift in time for Christmas.
